The Javelina Marching Band brings Texas A&M University–Kingsville together through music, movement, and school spirit. Known as the Pride of South Texas, JMB performs at football games, parades, festivals, and exhibitions—and welcomes students from majors across campus.

An early fight song

Visiting professor Noble Cain composed “Wild Hog March,” identified by the South Texas Archives as the Javelinas’ first fight song.

“Jalisco” takes the field

The university archives record the Javelina Band's first field performance of “Jalisco” during a 1949 football game.

A tradition made official

On December 2, the Student Council voted to make “Jalisco” an official fight song, cementing its place in campus tradition.

2026

A record 300 members

TAMUK reported a record 300 JMB members on August 20, 2026, up from 170 in 2022. Students from all majors help fill the ranks.
